This is the THOMSEA XXL surface clearance trawl (patented). This trawl incorporates all the lessons learned during 17 years of manufacturing and using the THOMSEA trawl. It can be towed with one boat and divergent panels or with two boats sailing in oxen. It is designed for a trawling speed of two knots, thus guaranteeing that it is harmless to wildlife. It has time to avoid it. This tool is on the scale of the oceans and the macro-waste found there such as 200-litre metal drums, piles of fishing nets weighing several tonnes... All sorts of waste which, at present, is not sufficiently collected and characterised by the scientific sampling carried out with collection trawls for micro-waste with less than one metre of horizontal raking. Many public policies aimed at combating the plastification of the oceans are in the pipes but, without an inventory serving as a zero point, how will we measure their effectiveness? The THOMSEA XXL trawl is designed to respond to this problem.
